Arrival in L.A. (11 May)

Before continuing on to L.A., we took a ride up Ballard Canyon. The rough road and occasional steep ramps were compensated for by the lack of traffic. The road was lined with magnificent oak trees, horse farms, olive groves and traditional vineyards. On the way up to the summit, we discovered this imposing bull.

The three hour trip to El Segundo took more than five hours, at least two of which were spent in traffic slowups. Is an L.A. traffic jam part of the tourist attraction program?! We were so glad to finally arrive at the Marriott and start meeting some of the gang. Here a photo of two of the most important people guiding the ride: Paula and her son, Tom.
